Making beaded flowers is usually though of in terms of either French beaded flowers or Victorian beaded flowers, each using a slightly different technique to create a dimensional, life-like beaded flower that can be carried, worn, or displayed like a natural flower. This booklet, written in Cyrillic, demonstrates how to create 10 different beaded flower types, plus two bonus beaded butterfly patterns.
Beautiful Flowers, Plus Two Butterflies
Beaded Flowers have been around since at least Victorian times, going in and out of style with some, but have always been popular amongst beaders for their elegant beauty. Virginia Nathanson re-ignited the popularity of beaded flowers in the 1960's, then Dalene Kelly gave the technique a jump-start again in recent years with her marvelous series of books. Now we have even more books on beaded flowers, including this terrific little booklet of 10 projects, plus two butterflies. The text is written in Cyrillic, but with the excellent graphs and pictures, there's no need for translation.
Not a book for the very beginner; you'll want to have some experience creating beaded flowers before you try these patterns, mainly because of the lack of instructional text. If you are experienced with creating beaded flowers, then this book will present no problems for you, as the graphs are very clear and easy to follow. The beaded flower projects use the same beads and wire available in most bead shops and hobby stores.
Some favorite beaded flowers from this volume include the Morning Glory, the beaded flowers and clover, the African Violet, red poppies and the tiny flowering vine, the final project in this book. This one is my favorite; so delicate and tiny; I want to bead it with size 15/0 beads.
If you enjoy creating dimensional beadwork, making beaded flowers, or have a friend who makes beaded flowers, this would be an excellent title to add to a beading library. With such great graphs, it's refreshingly different flowers, and the bonus butterflies make it worth the extra price.
